This Mossberg 500 Gold Trigger edition was a steal at a gun show a few weeks ago. The shotgun was in pretty good shape, and needed some sprucing up and a good cleaning. It was a “deer combo” package and came with a rifled slug barrel and Nikon scope. I broke down the entire gun, and ran all the parts through the ultrasonic cleaner. I learned a huge lesson, and will never put a receiver into an ultrasonic cleaner again. It takes the paint right off. I ended up powder coating the receiver, and reblued the field barrel. I went with a dark walnut stain and finished it with a satin oil based polyurethane. I’m not sure I’m satisfied with how the barrel turned out, and may parkerize it at a later date. For now it looks like new and it’s ready for the range this Sunday!
