This Bernardelli P.ONE VB 9MM was manufactured from the long standing armory in Italy named Bernardelli. The company was sold in 1997, but had been in business since the 1600’s. This particular firearm was manufactured in 1951 according to the proofing stamps that were used that year in Italy. The frame and slide was stripped, polished and parkerized. I’m really happy with the results and it performed at the range perfectly.
The following photos are post-parkerization. After the process has been completed, the parts soak in a sealer for a few minutes before they are hung out to drip dry.
After the parts have been air-dried, they get a soak in Rem Oil for a few days. The high-gloss in the images below is a visual effect of the oil.
These images are of the firearm reassembled and cleaned. After any refinishing process (parkerization, cold bluing), there is a black dusty residue that forms over the steel. This is cleaned off to reveal the completed finish. Over time, with additional oil, the finish will smoothen out and retrain a more gloss look. It’s recommended to apply a layer of oil and work the oil into the steel. I use Rem Oil, however some use motor oil or transmission fluid (which is just motor oil with a red dye). I do not recommend transmission fluid and do not use motor oils on my work. I get the best results with Rem Oil.
